The economic vitality of McHenry County depends on the ability of our community to educate a workforce capable of supporting, attracting and initiating economic growth.
Unfortunately, just at a time when people of all ages need to develop sophisticated, college-level skills in order to qualify for jobs in a knowledge economy, the cost of a college education has increased significantly. Nearly thirty percent of MCC students receive some form of financial assistance, but for many community residents, the lack of financial assistance puts college out of their reach.
It is our goal to remove the financial barriers that stand in the way of personal and community growth. Our new College Opportunity Endowment Fund will provide MCC the means to reach out to young men and women who are just completing high school, to under-employed adults, to the growing immigrant population, and to individuals who want to be the very first in their family to graduate from college. It will even fund summer enrichment programs in math and science for high school students in need to ensure their readiness to succeed in college.
Your contribution to the College Opportunity Endowment will help provide scholarships, books, childcare, transportation, internships, and more. It will provide more students with the means to enter and complete college, thereby empowering their lives, their careers and their communities.
