How can I contribute to the MCC Promise?
The MCC Promise is the biggest community-funded scholarship program in the College’s history.
MCC Promise Quick Facts
- The MCC Promise is funded solely by private donations from generous individuals and/or businesses in the greater McHenry County community.
- Statistics show that for every $1,000 of financial aid offered to a student, the probability of him/her attending college increases by 24%.
- Nearly 80% of future jobs will require more than a high school education.
- $17,089 is the average loan debt for Illinois college graduates.
- MCC Promise recipients are required to complete volunteer hours each semester while enrolled in the program at MCC.

How much of the cost will the MCC Promise cover?
The MCC Promise covers the cost of tuition after Pell and scholarships have been applied.
Fees are other expenses (including books) are determined by a student’s area of study and may vary. However, only tuition will be covered by the MCC Promise.
How is the MCC Promise made possible?
Several lead gifts have been secured to launch the MCC Promise Program.
How will the students and the community benefit?
- More students will receive a college education.
- The trickle-down effect is exponential as the area economy benefits from students choosing to work (in higher paying jobs) or starting businesses in the county where they received their education.
- The community will benefit by having an influx of young volunteers who will gain an understanding of community service and its important life role.
- The community will become more attractive to employers and prospective families who want their children to have the opportunity to receive an excellent education.
- Parents will begin to think about education in a different way and begin to discuss college with their children at an early age.
- The MCC Promise will provide a nearly debt-free education, which allows students to either continue toward a bachelor’s degree or begin their careers with financial peace of mind.
